Paula Gross, associate director of the UNCC Botanical Gardens, said school officials knew there was an interest in the plants but that no one knew about the gardens. So they figured the best way to get the word out would be to plan a family event around it.

The goal of the event is to help kids better understand these mysterious plants and to introduce families to the greenhouse and botanical gardens on UNCC’s campus.
