EduVal is ‘the Educational Carnival experience’ programme of the Ministry of Education, Innovation, Gender Relations and Sustainable Development.
The program, which is now in its fifth year, aims to provide an avenue for students to learn about and participate in the biggest Cultural Form of the Caribbean region, Carnival.
This year, the Ministry is proud to partner with Soca artiste Sedale, ECCO and Flow, as part of its Endless Everything Summer campaign, along with other corporate sponsors, to present the EduVal concert.
The concert is the end product of a school tour organized by Sedale in which members of the carnival fraternity and other Creative practitioners, spoke to students of the Performing Arts in the secondary schools about the factors to consider in choosing the Performing Arts as a career path.
Students were also allowed to display their talents and interact with the visiting artistes. One of results of this tour will be the student component of the EduVal concert as they will perform, and manage the concert, in keeping with one of the Ministry’s objectives of providing real life application of the skills taught in the classroom.
This element is one of many which make this initiative so important as it is also the first Carnival activity created specifically for secondary school students to allow them an opportunity to learn how to engage with the Carnival components and understand its potential as a revenue generating option.
The concert, which is free, will be held on Friday 30th June, 12:30 – 3:00pm, on the FLOW grounds at Corinth, Gros Islet.
