City of Culture celebrations are set to lose some colour after a huge summer event has been cancelled.

The fun spectacle of seeing hundreds, possibly thousands, of people chucking different coloured paint powder at each other was sure to be a huge highlight of the Carnival of Colours in Zebedee’s Yard.

But unfortunately, the May 29 event, celebrating the Indian culture and food, will no longer be taking place.

Billed as fun for all the family, the festival, was supposed to be a big, bright, bold event.

The reasons why the festival is not taking place have not been revealed but the City of Culture team has released a statement.

It said: “Carnival of Colours will not now be going ahead in Zebedee’s Yard at the end of May due to a technical issue. The organisers are contacting ticketholders and a full refund will be given.”
