Bishop’s Stortford to host summer carnival with movie themed parade

A carnival with a movie theme parade is set to arrive in Bishop’s Stortford next month.

Around 100 community groups and organisations are expected to take part in the annual event with the programme already promising a day packed full of fun.

For those taking part in the parade this year the theme to base their float or walking group on is movies.

Whether you decide to dress as an action hero or Disney princess or something completely different, there are no rules as to what film you dress as.

All entries will be judged and awarded points based on the originality of design, reflection of carnival theme and creative use of materials.

The judges will also be noting how they interact with the crowd and their overall appearance.

There will be prizes given to those with the best floats or walking group.

The procession will start at the Rhodes Arts Centre at 12.30pm proceeding through South Street, Potter Street and Market Square before finishing in North Street.

Over in Sworder’s Field, guests will see various live bands, dance displays, a fun fair, inflatables and more until 5pm.

For those looking to get creative there will also be producers and craft stalls as well as traditional side stalls and trade stands.

Younger children can also enjoy the animals over in the pet’s corner.

Food and refreshments will also be available throughout the day with their being a traditional beer festival available for the adults.

The carnival will take place on Saturday, June 17.
