Conejo Valley Days has turned into nothing more than an overpriced carnival. We really miss the parade, rodeo, open-pit barbecue, large vendor tent with crafts, and sewing projects with blue ribbons on them.
You could literally spend the entire Saturday at the events. Now, it’s $5 to park, $10 to enter, and the games are one ball per try for $5. We did notice that most of the games had no one playing them.
Oh, and there’s the band announcer, or whoever was talking and swearing on the loudspeaker. Yep, that’s family friendly. We were not even near the stage and could hear that.
I appreciate that this event has been privately funded, but it sure shouldn’t be called Conejo Valley Days. The money could be better spent doing something else. It is definitely not what our once-small community is used to.
